Weather: Dry to start the week but turning unsettled again

The weather will start off largely dry and sunny this week, but it will turn unsettled again later in the week, Met Éireann has said.

Mist and fog patches will clear later this morning (Monday, April 27) and it will be a mostly dry day, although isolated showers are possible, especially in northern areas.

There will be some cloud at first but sunny spells will improve as the day goes on. Highest temperatures will range between 13°C in the north and 19° in the south, with a light northerly or variable breeze.

Tonight will be dry with long clear spells and patches of mist and fog. Lowest temperatures will be 3° to 8° with a light northerly or variable wind.

Tuesday

Tomorrow (Tuesday, April 28) will be dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures will be 13° to 19°, warmest in the west and coolest in the east due to a light to moderate east to north-east breeze.

Tomorrow night will be dry with long clear spells and patches of mist and fog. Lowest temperatures will be 3° to 7° in a light to moderate east to north-east wind.

Wednesday

Wednesday (April 29) is set to be dry and sunny with highest temperatures of 13° to 18°, again warmest in the west as a moderate to fresh east to north-east wind persists.

Wednesday night will be dry with clear spells for most, although cloud and showery rain will develop in parts of the south and south-west overnight.

Lowest temperatures on Wednesday night will be 5° to 10° with a moderate to fresh easterly breeze.

Thursday

Met Éireann said there is uncertainty in the forecast for Thursday (April 30) but it is possible that showery rain in the south and south-west will spread north-eastwards.

Highest temperatures will be 11° to 13° in the south-west and 14° to 17° elsewhere, with a moderate to fresh easterly wind, easing later.

The showery rain is forecast to clear away to the north-east during Thursday night, with a few more showers moving into the southwest. Lowest temperatures are expected to be 7° to 11° with a light to moderate south-easterly wind.

For Friday (May 1), there is likely to be a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, turning heavy at times. Highest temperatures should be 13° to 17° with light to moderate southerly winds, becoming westerly.

For the bank holiday weekend, the weather is likely to be mixed, with some showers, but also with some drier and brighter spells.
