TAMS

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Martin Heydon recently said there are "more disappointed farmers" when it comes to TAMS as "more have applied".

In relation to TAMS 3, the minister said applications had been received "at three times the average number received per tranche compared with TAMS 2".

He told the Seanad that a total of 63,754 applications have been received across the first 11 tranches of TAMS 3.

Demand for the scheme had led to the introduction of ranking and selection for tranche 9 and tranche 10.

Minister Heydon said that TAMS 3 payments totaling almost €156 million have been issued to over 17,000 participants.

"Supports this year will amount to some €90 million, with a similar allocation for next year," he said.
