The 2026 Gigginstown Angus 30 year anniversary bull and heifer sale took place on Fennor Farm in Co. Westmeath at the weekend.
The sale, on Saturday (April 18) featured a 100% clearance of all 41 animals, and a record average price which rose 1% from the 2025 sales' record average of €5,040 to just over €5,100/animal this year.
The sale was headlined with a new record heifer price of €9,600 for Lot 33 Gigginstown Lady Gatsby and the second top pricedheifer was Lot 28 Gigginstown Templar Rose selling for €8,200.
The average price of the Gigginstown heifers rose by 12% from €4,660 in 2025 to €5,210 in 2026.
Despite this, the trade for bulls was down slightly on 2025 figures with the average bull price falling 6% from €5,350 in 2025 to €5,050 in 2026.
This reflected the recent decline in milk prices for dairy farmers, according to a sale report from Gigginstown.
The headline bull sale was Lot 20 Gigginstown Espirito Jack selling for €8,100, while the second top bull price was €6,300 for Gigginstown Red Eagle, a red angus bull.
Overall, the 2026 sale established a new record average sale price of €5,100 across the 41 animals sold.

With the demand for the Gigginstown Angus Pedigree females continues to break records, Gigginstown has announced that itwill host a one-off 30-year celebration elite female online sale on Saturday, August 8.
The sale will coincide with the 2026 Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show.
The sale will be confined to 25 elite females, most of whom who will be in-calf and will give both Irish and International Angus breeders an opportunity to acquire "some of the best Irish Angus genetics to supplement their breeding programs," according to a statement from Gigginstown House Angus.
Gigginstown’s Michael O’Leary said they were delighted with the huge turnout at the 30-year anniversary sale.
"We were very pleased to see bright sunshine and large crowds. While the trade for the bulls was a little softer than 2025, which is to be expected given the recent fall in market prices, the demand for our females broke new records smashing through the €5,000 mark.
"We wish to sincerely thank all those dairy and pedigree breeders who supported Gigginstown’s 2026 Angus Sale.
"We look forward to celebrating our 30-year Angus anniversary with an online elite female sale on August 8 on the eve of the Tullamore Show," he added.
Details of this one-off, elite female sale are expected to be released shortly by Ballyjamesduff Co Operative Livestock Mart and via the MartEye website.
