Members of the Unite union who work for Danone Nutricia in Wexford have voted overwhelmingly to accept a deal that will see their pay rise by nearly 9% over two years.
The deal, negotiated by Unite, will see base pay, production bonuses, and service pay increase by 4.5% in 2026 and 4.3% in 2027, with workers also receiving vouchers totalling €900 each year as well as free annual medicals.
The agreement is backdated to January 1, 2026.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The best way for workers to combat the cost-of-living crisis is to get organised in the workplace.
"Once again, this deal shows that Unite’s laser focus on jobs, pay and conditions is delivering for our members.”
Danone Wexford is one of the largest manufacturing plants in the Danone specialised nutrition network.
Unite regional officer Ed Thompson said: “This is a very good outcome for our members in Danone and again demonstrates the importance of being part of a strong union.”
Last month, Danone announced it will acquire UK-based meal solutions company Huel.
Danone said it has entered into a "definitive agreement" to acquire Huel, in line with its 'Renew Danone' strategy.
Danone has defined its 'Renew' strategy to restore growth, competitiveness, and value creation for the long-term.
The multinational business said the acquisition will enhance its presence in functional nutrition and extend its portfolio into the fast-growing 'complete nutrition' area.
Huel's range includes various food forms, such as 'ready-to-drink' and powders, which Danone said is supported by "best in class" digital execution; strong digital direct-to-consumer sales; and a "fan-base" in the UK, Europe, and the US.
The French-based multinational said that its own scale, capabilities and global reach will accelerate Huel's growth, innovation and international expansion.
The transaction remains subject to the usual closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
Commenting on the proposed acquisition, Antoine de Saint-Afrique, CEO of Danone, said: "We are delighted to welcome Huel and the Huel team into the Danone family.”
