Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for heavy rain in several counties.
The national forecaster said there will be spells of heavy rain in Cork, Kerry, and Waterford tomorrow (Friday, April 10).
The warning will come into force from 9:00a.m tomorrow morning and remain in place for 12 hours.
The heavy rain will bring a risk of localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions in places.
In its latest farming commentary, Met Éireann said weather conditions are expected to become more unsettled over the next seven days.
Rainfall totals are expected to be slightly above average across the country, with parts of the west and south-west receiving three times the climatic average for this time of year.
There will be fluctuations between milder and cooler conditions, but overall there will be around normal average temperatures for the week. Mean soil temperatures will stay above average.
Met Éireann said that light and moderately drained soils in the south and east are currently trafficable, but are saturated elsewhere.
Many poorly drained soils are saturated or waterlogged, with soil moisture deficits in poorly drained soils here currently between 1mm and 10mm.
With moderate amounts of rain forecast this week, soils are expected to improve slightly with more well and moderately drained soils becoming trafficable.
Some poorly drained soils in the south and east may improve by the end of the week, becoming trafficable, while soils in the north and west will remain saturated or waterlogged.
