Galway-based meat producer Divilly Brothers has announced a major nationwide expansion with Tesco Ireland.

The family-owned company with roots stretching back almost a century said this marks a significant milestone in the continued growth of the Irish food brand.

Divilly Brothers first began supplying Tesco stores in October 2022, following Tesco’s acquisition of Joyce’s Supermarkets.

Starting with eight local stores in the west of Ireland, the partnership quickly gained momentum.

In May 2023, Divilly Brothers secured listings in a further eight Tesco stores.

Following the successful launch of Ireland’s first Bord Bia approved 'No Added Nitrite' ham range, Divilly Brothers has expanded even further.

The company’s cooked meats range is now available in 96 Tesco stores nationwide, with its traditional breakfast meats stocked in 23 Tesco stores across Ireland.

Shane Divilly, commercial director at Divilly Brothers, said the company is committed to supporting Irish producers.

"This is a major milestone for our business. From starting in a number of stores in 2022 to now reaching shoppers nationwide, it reflects the strength of the Divilly Brothers brand and the hard work of our entire team.

"As we approach 100 years in business next year, it is an exciting time for our family business and we are proud to be continuing to expand while staying true to our roots in the west of Ireland," he said.

Brendan Swords, senior buyer of meat, fish and poultry with Tesco Ireland, said the retailer's relationship with Divilly’s "has grown from strength to strength over the past 5 years".

"The partnership highlights Tesco's long-standing commitment to supporting Irish suppliers and helping to grow jobs in local communities," he added.
