DAFM issues update on TAMS tranche 10 applications

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has provided an initial update on the status of applications made under tranche 10 of the Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3).

TAMS 3 provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon previously confirmed that ranking and selection will continue to be applied to applications received under TAMS 3.

Similar to tranche 9, the minister said that priority will be given to applications under farm safety and nutrient storage schemes.

This is due to the "huge number" of applications received, which the minister said is three times the number received over the equivalent period of TAMS 2.

Minister Heydon has said the current scoring system applied to the schemes continues to be "reviewed on a regular basis".

7,905 applications were received by the department for tranche 10, which closed on December 5.

A further 5,867 applications are "in progress", 279 have been rejected, while 117 have been withdrawn.
