Carbery Group has announced its milk price for August.

Carbery has increased its base milk price by 1c/L for the month of August.

The additional 0.5c/L support payment introduced in July in recognition of challenging weather conditions will remain in place for August.

A stability fund payment of 1c/L will also be paid, down from 2c/L in the previous month.

If replicated across the four West Cork co-ops of Bandon, Barryroe, Drinagh and Lisavaird, this will result in an average milk price of 41.84c/L, inclusive of VAT, the 0.5c/L SCC bonus and the FutureProof sustainability bonus.

The actual average price paid for August milk, based on actual solids, is expected to be 48.51c/L, including VAT.

A spokesperson for Carbery said: "We are pleased to increase our base milk price by 1c/L for August, while maintaining our overall milk price.

"We also recognise the challenging operating conditions our farmer suppliers have faced as a result of the weather, and the additional 0.5c/L support payment will remain in place for the month."

Carbery recently held an event to mark the UN International Year of the Woman Farmer.

The event, 'Leading the Way: Women Driving Innovation, Farming & Food', brought together women from across farming, food, research and the wider agri sector for a panel discussion and networking event.

The panel featured Ellis Mahon, Nicole Keohane, Aoife Dullea and Áine Hallihan.

They shared their own experiences and perspectives on working across the sector, the opportunities and challenges for women in agriculture, and the importance of encouraging the next generation.
