A top price of €8,000 was given for a September-2025-born heifer during the Emerald Expo online sale which took place at the weekend.
The sale - which was run by Denis Barrett Auctions in conjunction with the Irish Holstein Friesian Association (IHFA) - attracted almost 10,000 views and had 61 active bidders over the three days.
Chief executive officer of the IHFA, Laurence Feeney said: "Overall, the sale reflected continued appetite for high-quality pedigree Holstein genetics, with strong bidding activity throughout and particular interest in animals with proven show and classification credentials."
After some fierce bidding, €8,000 was given for Paul Murphy and Emma Behan's Hillholm Bullseye Tory.
The pedigree registered Holstein comes from Cedarmore Tory VG87 who was actually crowned the intermediate reserve champion at the Emerald Expo on Saturday.
The dam also had great success last October at the National Dairy Show in Millstreet, coming away with the title of intermediate Reserve Champion, after snatching first place in the senior two-year-old heifer in milk category.
The next best price was achieved by Leagh A Babe Like No Other RC, who made €5,700.
The November-2025-born heifer was bred by Tim and Lauren Fitzmaurice of Leagh Holsteins in Co. Kerry.
The red carrier comes from an impressive family, with the likes of her granddam, Jacobs High Octane Babe EX96, winning Canada's Holstein Cow of the year in 2025.
Steven McLoughlin's Ellys Crossfire Rhapsody then went on to make €5,000 in the sale.
The September-2025-born heifer won her class at the Expo over the weekend, competing in the class for Holstein Friesian Heifer born between September 1 and October 31, 2025.
Overall, 15 animals were sold on the day, the majority of which cleared the €2,000/head mark.
The sale wrapped with an average price of just over €3,050 paid per head.
However, there was also a three-piece embryo package up for grabs, with the embryos out of Architect RC x Hilrose Showtime Adore Red selling for €350 per embryo.
