Thunderstorm warning in place for 3 counties

Met Éireann has issued a thunderstorm warning for three counties.

The warning is in effect immediately, from just after 2:30p.m until 6:00p.m today (Saturday, May 2).

The warning is in place for counties Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo.

Met Éireann said these areas will experience scattered thunderstorms with potential impacts including lightning activity, power outages, spot flooding and poor travel conditions.

Weekend weather

Met Éireann said that many areas will become dry tonight, but outbreaks of rain and drizzle will persist in the east and south east.

There will be a mix of cloud and clear spells at first, but areas of mist and fog will develop overnight.

Lowest temperatures of 5° to 10° are expected, with light northerly or variable breezes.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle and patches of mist over the eastern half of the country.

There will be limited bright or sunny spells with showers further west.

Some of the showers will turn heavy in the south west later, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms.

Highest temperatures of 11° to 16° can be expected, coolest in the east, with light to moderate north to north east breezes.

Sunday night will be generally dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells and perhaps the odd light shower.

Monday will be generally cloudy with limited sunny spells.

It will stay mostly dry apart from some patches of light rain or drizzle.
