Met Éireann: Mainly dry with some sunny spells this weekend

Met Éireann has said there will be plenty of dry weather over the weekend with some sunny spells in places.

Today (Friday, May 8), will be a cloudier day with limited sunny periods. Some scattered showers in Munster, Leinster and east Ulster, with the occasional heavy fall. Showers becoming isolated later

Highest daytime temperatures of 10° to 15°C with mainly light northerly or variable breezes.

Tonight will be mostly dry with clear spells, but some cloud may persist in southern areas. Overnight lows of 3° to 8° in light to moderate northerly winds.

Weekend

Saturday will be a dry day for most place with sunny spells, cloudier conditions in southern parts could bring some patchy rain in coastal areas of the south-west.

Breezy with a moderate to fresh northerly wind, highest temperatures reaching 10° to 15°.

It will be mostly dry with clear spells on Saturday night, some cloud lingering in the south. Moderate northerly winds with overnight lows of 3° to 7°.

Sunday will bring a lot of dry weather with sunny spells. Cloud will thicken in the north during the day with some isolated showers.

Highest temperatures of 10° to 14°, feeling coolest in the north, with moderate northerly winds.

Cloud and light showers moving into northern parts on Sunday night, staying dry elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 3° to 8° in light north to north-west breezes.

Monday will bring a good amount of cloud and some bright or sunny breaks with light showers. Highest temperatures of 12° to 14°, in light to moderate north to north-westerly winds.

The forecast currently shows that Tuesday will bring some patchy light rain or drizzle, particularly in the north and northeast.

Met Éireann

Met Éireann said that the coming week will see rainfall amounts generally of up to 15mm in total which equates to 25-80% of the average for this time of year.

It will be cooler than average generally by 1° or 2° for most places. Mean soil temperatures will decrease but will remain above normal values.

Drying conditions will often be moderate, occasionally poor in limited precipitation. Some better opportunities are expected particularly on Saturday, away from the south.

There will be good opportunities for spraying at times away from any showers. The best opportunities will be Sunday.

Met Éireann said soil moisture deficits will generally not change by more than 5mm over the coming week. However, there will be a larger increase in soil moisture deficits in the wettest soils in the south.
