The Global Dairy Trade (GDT) index has recorded a decrease of more than 3% since its last event three weeks ago.
After the latest trading event today (Tuesday, April 7), the index recorded a decrease of 3.4% reflecting an average price of €3,669 per metric tonne (mt).
This is a reversal of the trend which had seen the GDT Index increase consistently since the start of the year in previous events.
A total of 16,497mt of product was sold at today's event.
There were 160 bidders who participated in the event, with 112 winning bidders across 13 bidding rounds with the whole event lasting for two hours and six minutes.
At today's event, butter saw a decrease of 8.1% to trade at €5,363/mt, while mozzarella saw a decrease of 6.2% for a price of €3,423/mt.
Meanwhile, anhydrous milk fat saw a decline of 7.1% at today's event, at a price of €6,097/mt.
Cheddar was down 3.1%, at a price of €4,135/mt, while skim milk powder also saw a slight decline of 1.6%, pricing at €2,934/mt.
Lactose was down 0.6% at a price of €1,262/mt, while whole milk powder saw a similar drop of 0.7% at a price of €3,199/mt.
The only product to see an increase was butter milk powder, up 0.7% at a price of €2,761/mt.
