The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued a recall notice for batches of HiPP Organic 7+ Months Vegetable Lasagne.
The FSAI cites “incorrectly declared celery in a batch of Hipp Organic 7+ Months Vegetable Lasagne” as the reason for the recall.
It stated that "celery is not emphasised in the ingredients list" of the batch of baby food.
The FSAI said: “This may make this batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of celery and therefore, parents, guardians and caregivers are advised not to feed the implicated batch to young children.”
The recall applies to HiPP Organic 7+ Months Vegetable Lasagne; pack size: 190g.
The batch code is B49311 and the best before date is January 31, 2027.
The UK is the country of origin.
Manufacturers HiPP said: “We are recalling our 7+ months 190g Vegetable Lasagne jar due to a labelling error which occurred during the latest artwork print refresh.
"The allergen celeriac has not been highlighted in bold within the ingredients list, which makes it a possible health risk for babies with an allergy to celeriac.”
According to Safefood Ireland: “Celery allergy symptoms usually occur immediately after consumption, ranging from mild itching or swelling of the mouth/throat and hives to severe, life-threatening anaphylaxis.
“Celery (including stalk, root/celeriac, and seeds) is a top EU-regulated allergen often causing reactions via oral allergy syndrome or cross-reaction with pollen.”
Earlier this month, the FSAI issued a recall notice for batches of Good4U Super Sprouts Super Greens.
They are being recalled due to the possible presence of salmonella.
The recalled batches all have a pack size of 60g, with use by dates of: 22/04/2026; 26/04/2026; 29/04/2026; 30/04/2026; and 03/05/2026.
The UK is the origin of the products.
According to Good4U, Super Sprouts are a blend of broccoli, alfalfa, clover, and radish sprouts.
Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale, the FSAI said.
Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches.
