The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has confirmed a further recall of Western Brand chicken products due to the presence of salmonella.
The authority said Western Brand is recalling various batches of chicken products sold in Aldi, Tesco, Dunnes Stores and Lidl branded under the names of those supermarkets.
The company is also recalling various batches of chicken with the Western Brand and Inishella brands.
A full list of the affected products, which have used by dates ranging from May 5-14, 2026, can be found on the FSAI website.
The FSAI said that although some of the implicated batches are past their use by date, the products are suitable for home freezing.
Consumers are advised to check their freezers for the implicated batches. They are also urged not to eat the implicated batches.
The FSAI said recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.
Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.
Wholesalers and distributors are asked to contact their affected customers and recall the implicated batches and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to retailer customers.
According to the FSAI, people infected with salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between 6 and 72 hours.
"The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps.
"The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission.
"The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness," the authority said.
On Tuesday (May 12), the FSAI confirmed recalls for various batches of chicken products produced by Manor Farm and Western Brand due to the possible presence of salmonella.
As a result, both companies are recalling certain chicken products sold in the country's main supermarkets.
