Dry and some very warm weather early this week

The weather will be dry and often very warm to start this week, but temperatures will drop back and rain will reappear in some areas towards the weekend, according to Met Éireann.

Today (Monday, May 25) will be warm and dry with long spells of sunshine.

While mist and fog patches will generally clear early on, some sea fog is possible through the day, especially along western and northern coasts, where it may also be a bit cloudier at times.

Highest temperatures will be 22° to 27° generally, warmest in Leinster and Munster, but a littler cooler near western and northern coasts, and all with light variable breezes.

Tonight will be dry and mild with long clear spells, although it will be a bit cloudier in the north and west.

There will be some mist and fog patches as well tonight. Lowest temperatures will be 10° to 15°, with light northerly or variable breezes.

Tuesday

Tomorrow (Tuesday, May 26) will see further warm weather, even very warm for some, with long spells of sunshine.

There will be some mist and fog patches early in the morning, as well as the chance of an isolated shower.

Highest temperatures generally will be 20° to 28°, warmest in Munster and coolest in Ulster - especially near coasts where it will be cooler - all with light to moderate north-easterly or variable breezes.

Tomorrow night will be mostly dry with long clear spells, although an isolated shower is possible, with some mist and fog patches forming.

Lowest temperatures will range from 8° in the north to 15° in the south, with light to moderate east to north-east breezes.

Rest of week

Wednesday (May 27) will be another warm day with lots of sunshine, and just the possibility of an isolated shower or two. Highest temperatures will be 20° to 27°, but a little cooler along eastern coasts, with a moderate easterly breeze.

Wednesday night will be very mild. While it will be dry for most with long clear spells, a few showers may develop, and also some mist and fog patches.

Lowest temperatures will be 12° to 16°, with a light to moderate east to south-east breeze.

Thursday (May 28) will be cloudier than previous days with some patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle further west. It will be a bit cooler too, with highest temperatures of 18° to 24°, or a little lower along southern and south-western coasts.

Moderate south-easterly winds will veer south-westerly through the day on Thursday and freshen a bit.

On Friday (May 29), any rain will clear northwards early on, leaving a dry day with some good sunshine, but with cloud building from the south through the afternoon and evening.

Highest temperatures of will be 17° to 21°, with light to moderate west to south-west winds.

Met Éireann said that current indications are for a return to more unsettled weather for the long weekend, with some rain and showers forecast. Highest daytime temperatures will fall back to the mid to high teens.
