With less than a month to the deadline, over 60,000 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and other area-based scheme applications have been submitted.
As of Wednesday (April 15), the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) had received a total of 60,504 scheme applications.
A spokesperson for the department confirmed to Agriland that 55,367 applications have been submitted by agents and 5,137 have been submitted by farmers.
They noted that 53,115 applications were submitted at this time last year.
58,138 applications have been submitted for Areas of Natural Constraints Scheme (ANC) and 59,345 for the Eco-Scheme.
The department has reminded farmers that the closing date for BISS applications is Friday, May 15, 2026.
Meanwhile, a series of in-person clinics run by the department to help farmers in making their BISS and other area-based scheme applications online is continuing.
The clinics will take place from 10:00a.m-4:30p.m and staff from the department will provide one-to-one support to farmers.
Farmers planning to attend the clinics must bring details of their MyAgfood.ie login, where available, and details of herd number, and PPSN to verify their identity.
