Spruced up New Holland and John Deere tractors, a Scania lorry, and a classic Mini Cooper provided the backdrop for the glamour and glitz of the Royal and Prior annual prom in the Silver Tassie Hotel, Letterkenny.

There was no place for limos for the event on on April 9 as the farming-focused students made a show-stopping arrival.

The prom committee at the Raphoe comprehensive school, under the guidance of deputy principal Jacqueline Carson, worked to plan the eagerly awaited event meticulously.

6A student, Tatum Ludick said: "While the girls spent the day at the hairdressers' and beauty salon, some of the boys were busy putting the final touches to the tractors, making sure they were cleaned and polished and free from any traces of the previous day's work."

Gemma Middleton, also from 6A, told Agriland: "After a week of unsettled weather, thankfully the skies cleared and everyone arrived in style, tractors gleaming and cars polished to perfection,"

"The girls' attire was a mix of elegant ballgowns and sleek, fitted dresses, with lots of shimmer," outlined 6B student Hannah Walker.

"Hair was styled to perfection, with soft curls and elegant updos. Make-up was full glam, bold, bronzed, and shimmery, everything on point."

The boys scrubbed up well too, sporting sharp suits with gleaming shoes, complete with fresh haircuts courtesy of last minute trips to the barbers.

Venue

Tatum said: "The venue was decorated in a gold and white theme, with balloon stands and eyecatching table décor, and glistening fairy lights around the room.

"A special highlight was the custom-made 'PROM' lettering, thanks to Mr Blackburn, all adding to the atmosphere on the night."

Gemma added: "DJ Paddy played a huge part in making our night special.

"Everyone was up dancing - the dance floor was never empty. Even the teachers joined in with their party moves.

"It was an unforgettable experience, full of excitement and good memories that will last a lifetime."

Hannah said: "Countless photos were taken throughout the night, capturing moments that will be treasured for many years to come.

"Thanks also to Clive Wasson for adding his professional touch to the photographs."

The students also sent out a "special thanks" to Mrs Carson "for making it a very memorable night for us all, and to the prom committee for all their hard work in making it happen".
