Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for three counties.
The warning is in place this afternoon (Wednesday, June 3) until 4:00p.m.
Affected counties are Dublin, Kildare and Meath.
Met Éireann said potential impacts include: lightning damage; spot flooding; and gusty conditions.
The rest of today will bring frequent and widespread showers, many of them heavy across the country.
Along with some scattered thunderstorms, mainly in Leinster and Ulster, there is also a chance of hail.
There will be some sunny spells in between the showers though.
It will be cloudy tonight with further showers or longer spells of rain.
Tomorrow (Thursday) will be cool and blustery with widespread showers, merging into longer spells of rain at times.
The showers will become less frequent later in the day and more in the way of sunny spells will develop.
Tomorrow night will bring clear spells and scattered showers, mainly over the western half of the country.
Friday will see a mix of well-scattered showers and sunny spells at first.
Cloud will build from the south-west through the afternoon with rain following and spreading into much of the south and west through the evening.
