Over €1.1m issued in farm scheme payments this week

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has issued an update on payments made under various farm schemes this week.

Over €1.1 million was paid out to farmers this week under a number of schemes.

The department confirmed that under the 2025 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS), €685,179 was paid this week.

118,619 farmers have now been paid over €842.4 million through these schemes.

The BISS/CRISS figure above includes the 2025 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers of €37.3 million and the 2025 National Reserve of €3 million, the department said.

Scheme payments

Under the 2025 Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC), €52,466 was paid out this week.

This brings the total payments for 97,943 farmers to €246.43 million.

Under the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES), €250,000 was paid out this week to farmers.

Under the Organic Farming Scheme, the total amount paid this week was €107,998.

€31,604 was paid out under the Tillage Sustainability Support Payment 2026 this week.

This brings total payments to €29.21 million, made to 8,605 farmers.

TAMS

The latest data from DAFM shows there was €10,798 issued to farmers for the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3) this week.

TAMS, which is co-funded by the EU, provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holdings.

Under TAMS 3, 43,940 approvals have been issued to date, with 19,449 payment applications submitted and 16,362 total payments made.

Scheme to support producer organisations

This week, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon announced the reopening of the Early-Stage Support for Producer Organisations (ESSPO) Scheme.

Producer organisations (POs) are officially recognised entities which aim to increase the collective bargaining power of their members and improve the position of farmers in value chains.

The scheme supports groups during their first three years following recognition.

Grant funding of up to €10,000 per annum is available to cover eligible administrative costs, including hiring personnel and acquiring relevant technology.

A separate grant of up to €3,000 is provided to refund fees for legal and business advice obtained on matters related to PO formation and application submission.
