Met Éireann has issued a weather advisory for unsettled or mixed weather over the Easter Bank Holiday.
The national forecaster said that a weather system from the Atlantic will bring windy or possibly stormy in places on Saturday (April 4).
Met Éireann warned there will be a potential for some severe or damaging west to south-west gusts.
Coastal flooding is also likely, especially around high tides and in exposed, low-lying locations in Atlantic coastal counties.
A high tide advisory is due come into effect from Good Friday and remain in place until Easter Monday.
As high spring tides will coincide with storm surge and persistent onshore winds, Met Éireann said there will be a further increased the risk of coastal flooding.
"Areas along the west and north coasts are particularly vulnerable.
"Strong onshore winds combined with high waves may lead to wave overtopping and flooding in low-lying and exposed coastal areas," the weather advisory for the entire country added.
Met Éireann said that weather warnings are likely to be issued.
Due to the unsettled conditions over the Easter weekend, above average rainfall is expected over the next seven days.
Amounts will likely range between 20-50mm for most areas, but higher amounts are possible, especially in western parts.
