Further €1.5m issued in TAMS 3 payments - DAFM

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) paid out €1.5 million to farmers under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3) last week.

TAMS provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holdings.

The latest data shows that almost 48,000 applications have been approved by the department.

20,432 payment applications have been submitted with 17,626 payments made.

The €1.54 million paid out last week brings the total payments under TAMS 3 to €161.4 million.

The data also shows that an additional €483,416 was paid last week under the 2025 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS).

This means that 119,268 farmers have now been paid a total of €844.78 million under these schemes.

This overall total includes the 2025 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers of €38.4 million and the 2025 National Reserve of €3 million.

The department also paid €97,526 to farmers through the 2025 Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC).

€147,653 was paid out to farmers in the 2025 Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP), while €17,287 was issued for the Beef Welfare Scheme and €16,364 for the National Sheep Welfare Scheme.

DAFM issued an additional €5,220 to farmers in the National Dairy Beef Weighing Scheme.

A further €37,712 was paid to participants in the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS).

BISS

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Martin Heydon recently confirmed that 122,151 farmers applied online for this year's BISS and other area-based schemes.

There were 119,300 applications for BISS and CRISS, 118,653 for the Eco-Scheme and 115,094 for ANC by the May 15 deadline.

There were also 34,359 applications received for transfer of entitlements.

If a change made to a BISS online application leads to a farmer having insufficient land to use all of their entitlements, they will have the opportunity to submit a transfer of entitlements application up until midnight on May 31.

This is only available to farmers who can show that they have made a change to their BISS application by May 31, and that change has directly led to the need to transfer entitlements.

DAFM noted that BISS and other area-based scheme applications can still be accepted after the closing date; however, there will be a 1% per working day penalty.

Where farmers have made their BISS and other area-based schemes application, but now wish to make an amendment, they may make such changes online on the AgFood portal until midnight on May 31 without any penalty.
