The Munster Angus Breeders group hosted its final spring sale of the year on Saturday, May 2, at GVM Kilmallock Mart, Co. Limerick.
A sale report from the group noted that there were 46 bulls catalogued and 24 offered for sale on the day with an 83% clearance rate and an average price of €4,060 - up €40 from 2025.
The sale auctioneer was Richard Ryan.
The group said: "Bulls met with a very strong trade, achieving the highest individual price for a bull in our 2026 sales and also achieving a record average price for this sale".
All bulls presented were breeder-bred, genomic tested, inspected, and weighed upon entry to the mart, in addition to being fertility tested.
Similar to the earlier spring sales, the group said that "there was a strong trade for bulls with higher indexes".
A total of 11 bulls achieved prices of €4,000 or more, attracting "a broad customer base, especially from dairy and suckler herds".
The judge in the pre-sale show was Jim Dockery from Shinrone, Co. Offaly, owner of the well-known Towra Angus Herd.
He tapped forward Kilsarlaught Lord How Ya from the herd of Patrick J. Houlihan, Skibbereen, Co. Cork, as the show Champion.

Lord How Ya is a March-2025-born 5-star son of Loughlynn Ultan.
The pre-sale show Champion went on to sell for €4,300.
Reserve Champion went to the only Red Angus bull at the sale, Hyland Red Albert.
Red Albert was from the herd of Denis Jones from Ballydesmond, Co. Cork.
Red Albert is a June-2024-born son of home-bred Hyland Utopia that went on to sell for €6,200 - the top price of the sale and all Munster Angus Breeders' 2026 bull sales.
The second-highest price of the day was €4,500, which went for Boiheamach Aindriu from the herd of John and Lucie Walsh from Duagh, Co. Kerry.
Aindriu is a 5-star December-2024-born son of Drumcarbin Va Va Boom.
Following at €4,400 was Balcarrig Boss from the herd of Jeremiah O'Leary from Ballydesmond, Co. Cork.
Boss is a 5-star January-2025-born son of Laheens U Boss Hogg.
Jermemiah's other entry Balcarrig Blizzard, a January-2025-born 5-star son of Texas Iceman sold for €4,000.
Achieving €4,300 was Monemore Paddy from the herd of Timmie Taylor.
Paddy is a February-2025-born son of Rawburn Poncho, whose maternal line also included Thrunton Rocket.
The group said the sale "again attracted a large crowd where there was significant onsite and online activity, reflecting buyers' continued trust in breeders to deliver quality cattle".
The next sale of the Munster Angus Breeders will be the breeding sale, which will take place on Saturday, October 31, at GVM Kilmallock Mart.
The October sale will see Munster Angus Breeders "achieve an exciting milestone".
The group did not provide further details at this stage, but said more information will be made available closer to the sale.
