Weather this June Bank Holiday Weekend will turn cooler and more changeable, with showers and spells of rain to return, according to Met Éireann.
Any lingering patchy rain and drizzle in the north and west will clear this morning (Friday, May 29), giving way to a largely dry day with plenty of sunshine developing this afternoon.
Highest temperatures today will be 17° to 23°, a little cooler in Atlantic coastal areas. Light to moderate west to south-west winds will be fresher early on near north-western coasts.
It will be dry with variable cloud and clear spells at first tonight. Cloud will build from the Atlantic, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle pushing into western areas overnight.
Lowest temperatures tonight will be 9° to 13°, with mist and fog patches possible in mostly light southerly breezes, increasing moderate near Atlantic coasts towards morning.
There will be mostly cloudy conditions in the west to begin tomorrow (Saturday, May 30), with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, gradually spreading eastwards as the day goes on.
Some bright or hazy spells of sunshine will develop in the afternoon and evening but there will be some heavy showers around too, particularly across parts of Ulster, where there is a chance of an isolated thunderstorm.
Highest temperatures will be 15° to 21°, with light to moderate southerly breezes.
Tomorrow night will bring a mix of clear spells and showers. The showers will be heaviest and most frequent in the north-west and north. Lowest temperatures will be 10° to 13° in light, occasionally moderate, south-westerly breezes.
There will be variable cloud, sunny spells and scattered showers on Sunday (May 31). It will turn cloudier from the south-west later in the day, with patchy rain and drizzle developing along Atlantic coasts in the evening.
Highest temperatures will be 15° to 20°, warmest in the east, with light to moderate south-westerly winds.
It will be mostly cloudy on Sunday night, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading countrywide in light to moderate south to south-west winds. Patches of mist will develop too. Lowest temperatures will be 11° to 14°.
Bank Holiday Monday (June 1) will start off mostly cloudy and damp, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, breaking up into showers and sunny spells as the day goes on. Some of the showers could turn heavy later.
Highest temperatures are expected to be 15° to 20°, again warmest in the east, with moderate south-west to west winds.
Current indications suggest a mix of sunshine and shower for Tuesday (June 2), some heavy early on in the day. Highest temperatures will be 14° to 18° in mostly moderate westerly winds.
Beyond that, Met Éireann said it will be changeable and at time unsettled. Temperatures will trend near average, with daytime highs in the mid-teens generally.
