Weather to become unsettled again from midweek

The weather it set to return to more unsettled conditions from midweek this week and into Easter weekend, Met Éireann has said.

There will be some bright or sunny breaks to begin today (Monday, March 30), along with well scattered, mainly light, showers.

It will become mostly cloudy as the day goes on with patchy drizzle and mist developing in the west and southwest this afternoon, spreading further eastwards this evening.

Highest temperatures today will be 10° to 14°, with mostly moderate west to northwest winds, fresher in the north.

It will be mostly cloudy tonight with patchy light rain and drizzle along with some mist and hill fog. Lowest temperatures will be 7° to 10° in light to moderate west to southwest breezes.

It will be cloudy overall tomorrow (Tuesday, March 31) with patchy drizzle or scattered light showers in places, but a few bright or sunny breaks will also develop.

Highest temperatures will be 11° to 14° in light to moderate west to southwest winds.

Tomorrow night will see limited clear spells for a time early in the night, especially further east, but mostly cloudy overall with patchy drizzle and mist.

More persistent rain and drizzle will start to move into coastal parts of the northwest and west towards morning. Lowest temperatures will be 6° to 10° in light to moderate southwest winds, freshening in northwestern coastal parts overnight.

It will be mostly cloudy to begin on Wednesday (April 1), with patchy drizzle and mist, but more persistent rain will develop in the northwest and will spread southeastwards over the country through the morning and afternoon.

A clearance to mostly dry and brighter conditions will gradually extend from the northwest with some late evening sunshine developing for most.

Highest afternoon temperatures will be 10° to 14°, but it will turn cooler as the rain clears and the mostly moderate, occasionally fresh, southwesterly winds, change north to north-west.

It will become mainly dry and cold with clear spells on Wednesday night. Lowest temperatures will be -2° to +2° with light northerly winds becoming variable, which will allow patches of mist, fog and frost to form.

It will be mainly dry, bright and crisp to begin in many places on Thursday (April 2), but cloud will soon build from the west with outbreaks of rain spreading eastwards as the day goes on.

Highest afternoon temperatures will range from 7° to 11° with light southerly winds increasing moderate or occasionally fresh for a time before veering westerly and easing.

Met Éireann said there is uncertainty in the forecast for Good Friday (April 3), but current indications suggest a windy day with gales developing on western and northwestern coasts along with spells of rain at times.

Highest temperatures are expected to be 10° to 14° in fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds.
