Weather: No let up in unsettled conditions in coming days

There will be no let up in the unsettled weather in the coming days, with Met Éireann saying that rain in many areas is set to continue into early next week.

As of this morning (Friday, February 6), four counties are under Status Orange weather warnings for rain.

Two warnings, covering counties Dublin, Wicklow and Waterford, will be in effect until 9:00a.m this morning.

A third Status Orange warning will be in effect for Co. Louth until 12:00p.m (midday).

In these counties, spells of very heavy rain falling on already saturated ground, combined with high river levels and high tides, will lead to localised flooding; river flooding, with potential impacts along the entire course of the river; and difficult travelling conditions.

As well as the Status Orange warnings, there are also two Status Yellow warnings for rain in effect.

A warning for counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Tipperary and Wexford will be in place until 9:00a.m; while a warning for Cavan, Monaghan, and Meath will be in place until midday.

In these counties, further rain falling on already saturated ground, combined with high river levels and high tides, will lead to localised flooding, river flooding and difficult travel conditions.
