Tullamore Show young handlers' event set to return

The young handlers event is set to return as part of the Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.

Organisers have confimed that a dedicated training show is being introduced this year, aiming to inspire and educate the next generation of livestock handlers.

The event will take place on Sunday, April 26 at its new location, Annaharvey Farm, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

Young handlers

The activities will kick off at 10:00a.m with a full day of demonstrations, competitions, and interactive learning opportunities planned.

Among the topics to be covered on the day will be grooming techniques such as washing and clipping, showing etiquette, and ring presentation.

There will be practical insights given from experienced livestock handlers.

Training show

The training show competition will include beef and dairy categories and is open to the following age groups: 8–12 years, and under 18s.

The young handlers programme also sees the return of the 'Future Stars of the Show Ring', which will showcase many different breeds of cattle.

The family event is free, but those planning to attend or enter the training show are asked to register for their tickets on the Tullamore Show website.
