410,000 cattle were slaughtered in Ireland between January and March this year, according to data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Between January and September 2023, cattle slaughterings decreased by 3.6% when compared with the same period in 2022, according to the latest CSO figures.
The number of cattle slaughtered in the first five months of this year is down by 3.9% compared to the same period in 2022, the CSO said.
Between January and February 2023 cattle slaughterings increased by 2.1% when compared with the same period in 2022, according to the CSO.
