Musgrave announces price cuts on SuperValu and Centra butter and milk

Musgrave has announced that prices on SuperValu and Centra own-brand Irish butter and milk products will be reduced across stores nationwide from tomorrow (Friday, March 27).

Following Tesco and Lidl Ireland, this is the third retail chain today (March 26) to announce price reductions on milk and butter.

The Musgrave reductions, worth up to 12%, will deliver savings of up to €0.40 on own-brand Irish creamery butter and milk products.

This will apply across numerous product ranges, including salted and unsalted butter options in both 227g and 454g pack sizes and whole, low-fat and skimmed milk options up to 3-litres.

The move will see all SuperValu and Centra 454g own-brand butter products reduce from €3.39 to €2.99, while all 227g own-brand butter products will reduce from €2.09 to €1.99.

SuperValu and Centra whole, low-fat and skimmed milk products will reduce from €2.35 to €2.25 for a 2-litre carton.

Musgrave said: “We understand the ongoing cost pressures facing households and remain focused on delivering value for customers.

Supermarket milk reductions

Earlier today (March 26) Lidl Ireland announced it will be reducing prices across its own-brand milk and butter range.

The price of a standard 2-litre carton of milk will drop to €2.25, while a 454g (1lb) block of Irish creamery butter will be reduced from €3.39 to €2.99.

Meanwhile, Tesco confirmed a new round of price reductions on its own-brand butter and milk.

Tesco said the price of a 2-litre carton of fresh milk will be cut by 10 cent to €2.35, while a 454g block of Tesco Irish Creamery Butter will go down by 40 cent to €3.39.

Henry Dunne, Irish Farmers' Association (IFA) Liquid Milk chair, told Agriland: "It is really disappointed to see the cuts, given expenses that liquid farmers are incurring."
