Milk pool meetings under way as post quota plans take off

Top-level meetings between the Irish Farmers Association (IFA) and Irish dairy co-ops are ongoing as the farm community looks post quota.

Commenting on these ongoing meetings IFA president Eddie Downey noted there will be a lot of change in the sector over the next 12 months, as farmers gear up for the post quota era.

“The challenge we are putting up to all dairy co-ops and the Irish Dairy Board this spring is to take charge of this change at management and board level. Failure to do so could lead to farmers feeling that they have no option but to make their own decisions in the interest of securing their future – with potential serious long-term consequences.”
