Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for heavy rainfall in counties Cork and Kerry.
The national forecaster said there will be a spell of heavy rain, coupled with strong and gusty east to southeast winds in the early hours of tomorrow morning (Tuesday, January 20).
The warning is currently valid from 2:00a.m until 8:00a.m on Tuesday.
The conditions may result in localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
Met Éireann said the coming week will see unsettled weather with more persistent spells of rain and breezy conditions.
Over the next seven days, rainfall is forecast to be quite varied with eastern and southern coastal areas getting nearly 1.5 to 2.5 times the average but inland and western areas getting below the average.
Temperatures will fluctuate a little over the coming week but overall they will be near or below average.
Soil temperatures are running slightly above average, ranging between 4.3° and 6.8°C, little change is expected in the coming week.
Met Éireann said that drying conditions will be generally poor over the coming week with rather cold temperatures and spells of rain and showers.
While opportunities for spraying will be very limited over the coming days due to the unsettled weather pattern.
Soils are currently saturated or waterlogged and little change is expected in the days ahead.
