Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for strong winds on the west coast tomorrow (Tuesday, March 24).
The national forecaster said it will become increasingly windy tomorrow evening with very strong and gusty westerly winds.
The warning, which is due to be in place from 5:00p.m until midnight tomorrow, currently applies to counties Clare, Galway, Kerry, Limerick, and Mayo.
Met Éireann said the "potentially damaging gusts" may lead to fallen trees and branches, difficult travel conditions and large coastal waves.
In its latest farming commentary, Met Éireann has said that rainfall amounts over the coming week will range between 10mm and 40mm for most areas.
This would equate to one to two times the normal values for this time of year.
However, there will be some heavier bursts on Tuesday and Wednesday which could lead to localised heavier falls.
Overall, the coming week will be cooler, but mean air temperatures will generally be normal or a degree above. Mean soil temperatures will continue above average.
Met Éireann said soil moisture deficits (SMDs) for well and moderately drained soils currently range between 5mm and 10mm.
Most poorly drained soils are saturated or close to it but with SMDs up to 5mm in parts of the south and east.
Due to the unsettled conditions forecast for the coming days, soil conditions will deteriorate with most poorly drained soils becoming saturated or waterlogged.
In well and moderately drained soils, soil moisture deficits in the south and southeast will likely range between 3mm and 8mm, but elsewhere will be saturated or close to it.
