In its outlook, Met Éireann said that during the coming week there will be rain or showers on most days.

Rainfall totals are likely to be above normal across most of the country with the exception of the north coast.

The rainfall totals in the east and south-east are likely to be up to 4 times the weekly average for this time of year.

Temperatures are forecast to fluctuate a little over the coming week but overall they will be close to the seasonal average.

Soil temperatures are running slightly near the January average, ranging between 4.2° and 6.6°C, little change is expected in the coming week.

Drying conditions will be generally poor over the coming week, while opportunities for spraying will be very limited due to the unsettled weather.

Soils are currently saturated or waterlogged with little change expected in the days ahead.
