The weather forecast shows that any frost will clear early today and be followed by sunshine and scattered thundery showers, especially in Atlantic counties.

Highest afternoon temperatures of 5° to 9°C, feeling coolest in Ulster, with light to moderate southerly or variable breezes.

There will be long dry spells tonight, but thundery showers will merge into longer spells of rain in the south and south-west later.

Frost will develop where skies remain clear with the chance of icy stretches. Mist and fog patches may form too.

It will be a cold night with lowest temperatures of -1° to 3° in light to moderate south-east breezes.

Met Éireann said that frost or fog will quickly clear on Friday morning. There will be a mixture of some bright spells and heavy thundery showers, mainly in southern and eastern areas to begin with hail and lightning.

The scattered heavy showers will move into other areas later in the day.

Highest temperatures of 5° to 9°, again feeling coolest across Ulster, in a mostly light south-east breeze.
