A Co. Donegal couple who have raised over €75,000 in recent years for local charities are busy selling tickets for a raffle for a fully restored Massey 135 tractor.
Orla and Mark Neely from Kilmacrenan decided this year to run a fundraiser for BUMBLEance children's ambulance service which supports many families around the country.
The Neelys have been running fundraisers for local charities since 2023.
Orla said: "We feel so many families need these services and from hearing about the level of need, we felt that in order for these services to run, fundraising is required.
"We like to do something different every year."
They will be out and about at various shows and shops selling tickets and will be at the Revv it Up festival in Dungiven from July 17 -19. The raffle will take place in Letterkenny in July.
"Without fundraising, BUMBLEance wouldn’t be able to provide this amazing service as there is no government funding, so all fundraising keeps this operation going," Orla said.
"Even buying one ticket, you're in with a chance of winning this beautiful tractor and, most importantly, supporting BUMBLEance will help keep this service available."
This is not the first time the Neelys have dealth with a Massey 135.
"Two years ago we raffled a Massey 135 for the Donegal Hospice raising €40,000," Orla recalled.
"Reaction to the raffle is good, with lots of enquiries and people coming to see the tractor, which came from Co. Down and was fully restored a few years ago.
"It was then put into storage with only two hours on the clock now as it stands."
According to Orla, the Tawney tractor run is "proud" to raffle off a classic Massey Ferguson 135, an iconic tractor loved by farmers and collectors alike.
"Reliable, timeless, and full of character, this is a machine that truly stands the test of time," she said.
BUMBLEance is Ireland’s only dedicated children’s ambulance service.
It makes a difference by empowering the thousands of families unable to access their child’s healthcare by providing nationwide journeys in a safe, caring and fun environment, completely free of charge.
"By taking part, you’re not just in with a chance to win a legendary tractor – you’re helping turn difficult miles into guaranteed smiles," Orla said.
