Lidl Ireland has today (Thursday, March 26) announced it will be further reducing the prices across its own-brand milk and butter range.
The retailer said it will pass on €5 million in savings to shoppers "as global commodity costs stabilise".
The price of a standard 2-litre carton of milk will drop to €2.25, while a 454g (1lb) block of Irish creamery butter will be reduced from €3.39 to €2.99.
The price changes for the retailer's Coolree Irish Fresh Milk and Dairy Manor butter brands is effective from 8:00a.m today.
In a statement Lidl said that milk and butter prices in Ireland "are determined by a combination of international commodity market and global supply and demand dynamics".
The retailer announced an initial round of price cuts for milk and butter in October 2025.
Announcing the price reductions, Robert Ryan, chief executive officer of Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland, said:
"We remain dedicated partners to the Irish agricultural community, ensuring that as we deliver value to shoppers, we continue to support the long-term viability of the local producers who supply our 100% Irish milk and butter".
Lidl recently surpassed a record €2 billion worth of products and services procured from Irish suppliers in 2025.
Of this total, €70.5 million worth of goods was procured from Lidl’s dairy suppliers.
