The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers' Association (ICMSA) has presented cheques to four farming students as part of its John Feely Scholarship programme.
The recipients of the 2025 John Feely Foundation Scholarships were recently presented with their cheques for €1,500 at ICMSA’s head office in Limerick.
The students selected for the scholarships included: Shane Farrell, Ballycormack, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow; Eanna Maxwell, Moate, Co. Westmeath; Cian McInerney, Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare and Conor O’Donovan, Dromina, Co. Cork.
The John Feely Scholarship, named after one of the association's early leaders, is open to sons and daughters of ICMSA members engaged in their first year of studying farming or specified farm-related courses at accredited institutions or colleges.
A scholarship is reserved for each of the ICMSA's four regions.
ICMSA president, Denis Drennan, said that the farm organisation and the John Feely Foundation were determined to commit funds and energy to the education of young farm students.
He pointed to the increasing complexity of the issues around farming which he said highlighted the need for more advanced training and education.
Drennan urged the young people to involve themselves in farm organisations and to "step up" if the needs of their generation were to get the attention needed.
