Three female farmers will star in Food Tank and Bord Bia's premiere of 'Voices of Irish Farmers: A love story', a "post-Valentine's love letter to the trials and tribulations of farming in Ireland".
The premiere will take place in the main space at Dublin's Smock Alley Theatre as part of the Scene + Heard festival, on February 15.
According to the organisers of the event, Food Tank is a global non-profit community that is working towards transforming how people produce and consume food. Food Tank Arts incubates and explores arts-driven food and climate change initiatives.
Farmers Ailbhe Gerrard, Sophie Bell and Carina Roseingrave will guide the audience through an afternoon of stories woven together with live music and food tasting "in a celebration of love, love of land, community and the systems that feed us".
Ailbhe Gerrard is the owner of Brookfield Farm in Co. Tipperary, where she focuses on sustainable farming practices and producing high-quality, locally grown produce.
Third-generation farmer Sophie Bell is a young Co. Cavan-based agriculturalist known for raising dairy heifers and modernising her family farm.
Carina Roseingrave is a dairy farmer with Burren View Farm, known for sustainable, grass-based farming in the Burren region of Co. Clare.
"Hope and resilience echo throughout these stories, told by the farmers themselves through theatre-inspired storytelling, entirely unscripted," the organisers said.
"At the heart of the show lies the radical question of what it means to farm in Ireland in 2026 and live in between the tension of tradition and modernity.
"Blending storytelling, live music, visuals, theatre, and tasting in a multi-sensory spectacle, 'Voices of Irish farmers' lets farmers do the talking."
It will feature live sound design and music from Irish singer/songwriter Reylta.
Development of voices of Irish farmers is supported by Bord Bia and Kerry Dairy Ireland.
The premier will take place at at 2:00p.m on February 15, and tickets cost €10.00 each.
