Gardaí arrest man in relation to criminal damage to agri equipment

Gardaí have today (Wednesday, March 18) confirmed that a man has been arrested in relation to alleged criminal damage caused to agricultural machinery in Co. Cork.

The arrest is part of an investigation into the theft of cattle, burglaries and criminal damage of agricultural and construction equipment in the west Cork region.

In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

"Gardaí have arrested a man, aged in his late 20s in relation to the criminal damage of agricultural equipment that occurred in Drimoleague, west Cork in July, 2025.

"He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in west Cork."

The statement added that the garda investigation is ongoing.

In separate news, gardaí are appealing for information following the theft of a sheep trailer in Co. Donegal.

Gardaí said the theft incident occurred in the area of Billary, Pettigo, between 5:30p.m on Tuesday, March 10 and 9:00a.m on Wednesday, March 11.

A garda spokesperson said: "A galvanised sheep trailer (8x4 foot) was stolen from a yard in that area between those times."
