Gardaí appeal for information after fire in Cork hay barn

Gardaí have confirmed an investigation is underway following a fire in a hay barn in Co. Cork.

The alleged criminal damage incident is understood to have taken place in the Cloghane area, close to Skibbereen on Sunday evening (March 22).

Fire fighters from Skibbereen were called to tackle the blaze.

In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána told Agriland:

"Gardaí are appealing for information following a fire in a hay barn in Clohane, a rural area located a few miles from Skibbereen.

"According to investigating gardaí, the incident occurred between 5:00p.m and 6:30p.m on Sunday, March 22. Skibbereen Fire Services responded to the scene."

"Gardaí would like to speak with anyone who was in the Clohane area of Skibbereen during this time and may have information that could assist their investigation.

"They are particularly appealing to members of the public who may have dash-cam footage or any other relevant recordings from the area at the time.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Skibbereen Garda Station on 028-23088, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station," the spokesperson added.
