€571m worth of chicken imported to Ireland in first 11 months of 2025

€571 million worth of chicken was imported to Ireland between January and November 2025, equating to 137,871 tonnes.

24% of chicken imported originated in the Netherlands, 20% from Poland, with 16% coming from both Thailand and the United States.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon said that figures for 2025 are currently available for January to November only.

The first trade estimates for the full year 2025 are scheduled for publication by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in mid-February, the minister said.

€258 million worth of beef was imported from January to November in 2025, or 36,891 tonnes.

"The main country of origin for beef was the UK, which formed 91% of the value," Minister Heydon said.

€300 million worth of pork was imported.

The UK was the main source at 35%, with other origins including the Netherlands and Germany, each at 15%.

€41 million worth of potatoes was imported.

"The majority of potatoes originated in the UK at 75% of import value, with other notable origins including France with 11% and the Netherlands at 4%," the minister said.

€344 million worth of milk was imported, 92% coming from the UK.

€56 million worth of eggs was imported, with 47% originating in the UK, 31% from the US and 7% from the Netherlands.

The minister added that total exports during the same time period were valued at €19.2 billion, with beef exports of €3.3 billion and dairy exports of €6.7 billion.
