A new website has been established which encourages Irish people to pray for their 'Holy Hero'.

MyHolyHero.com urges users to pray for the intercession of Irish men and women who are on the path to sainthood, but who have not yet been canonised.

According to the website creator, Luke McCann, "Ireland's last canonised saint, Oliver Plunkett, died 400 years ago - yet many believe there have been holy lives since then still waiting to be recognised".

He has outlined that the site was partly inspired by the recent canonisation of Carlo Acutis, born in 1991.

How to select your 'Holy Hero'

When visiting the website, users can make their selection.

Visitors pick one 'Holy Hero' - an Irish figure on the road to sainthood, such as Venerable Matt Talbot (considered by many as a source of hope for people affected by addiction) or Sr. Clare Crockett, currently the site's most popular choice.

Another option is Daniel O'Connell, the Kerry-born lawyer and statesman.

Visitors then pray for that person's intercession, often with family, friends, or even a whole school class praying together - e.g., on behalf of a sick relative.

If a prayer is answered in a way that could be considered miraculous, they can report it to miracles@myholyhero.com, and the site will then forward it on to the relevant authorities.

The Catholic Church requires a miracle attributed to a single intercessor before someone can be beatified or canonised.

The aim of this new website is to encourage focused, sustained prayer to one candidate at a time towards these causes.

MyHolyHero.com was founded by Luke McCann, together with Felipe Cunha, Aline Cunha and Gustavo Munhon from the AMDG Core Team.

They are hoping it will be used in schools, parishes and families.
