Dairy farm assistant among latest agri-sector jobs

A dairy farm assistant is among several exciting job opportunities that have cropped up in the agri-sector in recent days.

There are also a number of roles available in the area of sales.

Area sales manager

Argo Tractors, which manufactures and distributes Landini and McCormick tractors, is looking to take on an area sales manager for Argo Parts Ireland.

The role is for an experienced, driven sales professional with a proven ability to win new business and a strong technical background.

The role involves growing sales with the existing customer base, while developing new business across the Irish market and driving product sales to meet targets using a consultative sales approach, among other responsibilities.

The candidate should have three or more years experience in agri-machinery, machinery parts or a related sector, as well as strong technical knowledge of agri-machinery spare parts, among other requirements.

Agriculture inspector roles

There are a number of openings within the civil service of Northern Ireland for agriculture inspectors.

A vacancy is open for an agriculture inspector grade II.

Posts will be based at Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) locations across Northern Ireland.

All applications for employment will be considered strictly on the basis of merit.

A similar vacancy is open in the area of horticulture. This is again at the grade II level.

This post will be based at the Greenmount Campus of the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprises (CAFRE) in Co. Antrim.

Finally, an agriculture inspector in the area of food technology, again at the grade II level, is being sought.

The initial posting will be based at Clare House, Belfast and Loughry Campus, Cookstown.

Sales representative

Staying in Northern Ireland, animal feed manufacturer Smyths Daleside is inviting applications to fill the role of sales representative for Co. Tyrone.

The role will involve delivering ambitious growth strategies across the sales area to increase feed sales to new and existing customers, and providing customers with technical advice and support on ruminant nutrition and related technical aspects of animal feed.

The candidate should possess sound knowledge of, and an interest in, the agri-food industry, and have previous sales experience, among other requirements.

Farm assistant

A dairy farm in Co. Offaly is looking to take on a farm assistant for a busy 300-cow herd in the Birr area.

Responsibilities will include calf rearing, helping with milking, light machinery work, and farm maintenance.
