DAFM issues update on TAMS tranche 9 applications

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has provided an initial update on the status of applications made under tranche 9 of the Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3).

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Martin Heydon previously confirmed that ranking and selection will be applied to applications made under this round of the scheme.

He indicated that "priority" would be given to applications under Farm Safety and Nutrient Storage schemes.

Minister Heydon has repeatedly warned that "there is a limit to the amount of funding available" for TAMS 3 which is "operating within a very clearly defined financial profile over the course of the Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan".

TAMS

TAMS 3 provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

The latest data, published by DAFM, shows that 1,490 (24%) of the 6,122 applications made in tranche 9 have been approved to date.

4,305 applications are deemed to be "in progress", 203 have been rejected, while a further 124 have been withdrawn.

The following table provides an update on the status of tranche 9 applications across the various TAMS schemes:
