Charolais premier sale and workshop set for Elphin Mart tomorrow

The Irish Charolais Cattle Society is set to host its Premier Sale tomorrow (Saturday, March 21) at Elphin Mart, Co. Roscommon.

The pre-sale show will kick off at the mart venue at 10:00am with the sale set to commence at 12:30pm.

There are 53 bulls and 17 females catalogued for the sale with a range of buyer incentives available.

According to the Irish Charolais Cattle Society, the buyers of the first 20 bulls to sell in the ring for over €6,500 will receive €250 back.

In the heifer sale, the first 10 heifers to sell in the ring for over €6,500 will also receive €250 back.

The society has said it will also provide a €100 contribution towards transport costs for Northern Ireland purchasers.

Charolais breed workshop

Also taking place at the Premier Sale at Elphin Mart on Saturday will be a Charolais Workshop.

The well-known couple on the show-cattle circuit - Niall and Simone Maguire from the award-winning Rockvalley Herd - will be leading the workshop and sharing their expert advice on grooming tips and show preparation.

The workshop is open to all ages and will offer cattle enthusiasts some practical tips and advice on preparing cattle for showing.

Those interested in participating in the workshop are asked to contact the society in advance to confirm their interest.
