Calf and weanling information event set for Longford tomorrow

Kiernan Milling is set to host a farmer information evening targeted at both suckler farmers and dairy calf to beef farmers tomorrow evening in Co. Longford (Thursday, January 22).

The event which has the theme, 'Everything Calves and Weanlings’ will take place at the Kiernan Milling conference room, Ballinalee Road, Granard, Co. Longford, and is set to kick off at 7:45p.m.

It aims to offer practical advice to farmers seeking to optimise calf performance from birth through to weaning and beyond.

The two speakers at the event are as follows:

  • Veterinary surgeon, Patrick Clerkin MVB MRCVS;
  • Ruminant nutritionist, David Magee M.Agr.Mc.

According to event organisers, both speakers bring "extensive hands-on experience working with calves and youngstock" and the event will bring together "expert knowledge and real-world experience to support better calf outcomes on farm".

The key topics to be covered on the night will be focused on calf health and husbandry, getting calves off to the right start and the fundamentals of effective calf nutrition.

The organisers aim to offer farmers in attendance practical, actionable advice.
