ABP Food Group has today (Monday, February 16) announced two senior leadership appointments to its operations in the UK as well as Ireland and Poland.

Kevin Cahill has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of ABP UKeffective from the beginning of April.

Jerome Aherne has been appointed managing director of ABP Ireland and Poland.

Kevin Cahill joined ABP in 2021 as managing director for Ireland and Poland, bringing extensive experience from more than 20 years in senior roles across the food sector, according to a statement from ABP.

The ABP statement said: "With a track record of industry leadership and commercial delivery, he will now lead ABP’s UK business into its next phase of development, working closely with colleagues, customers, and suppliers across the market."

A graduate of University College Cork (BComm), Kevin Cahill previously spent over two decades with Kepak in the UK and Ireland before serving as managing director of OSI Europe.

Earlier in his career, he participated in ABP UK’s operations graduate scheme in Wessex, giving him a deep understanding of the business and its customers.

He has spent more than 22 years with ABP Food Group, including a decade in livestock procurement and 12 years overseeing ABP’s Polish operations.

Most recently, as managing director of the group’s lamb operation Irish Country Meats (ICM), he led the division to become the first Irish lamb processor to export to the United States.

A graduate of University College Dublin (B Ag Science), he brings deep operational expertise and international experience to his new role.

ABP Food Group and its affiliates are one of Europe’s leading privately owned agribusinesses and are the largest beef processor in Ireland and the UK.

The company also operates substantial renewable (Olleco), pet food (C&D), and protein divisions.

ABP employs over 14,000 people and has over 50 manufacturing plants operating across nine countries.
