The Ryan family from Co. Tipperary, who were crowned the overall winners of the 2025 National Dairy Council (NDC) and Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards, are set to host a farm walk next month.

'A Tradition of Excellence in Dairy' is the theme for the event on the Ryan Family Farm at 11:30a.m on Wednesday, June 24.

The farm walk is organised jointly by Teagasc, Centenary Thurles Co-op, National Dairy Council (NDC) and Ornua.

The event aims to celebrate the excellence of Irish dairy farming, which is also highlighted annually by the NDC and Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards.

The Ryan family of Moyne, Thurles have a farming legacy that stretches back over five generations to 1860.

Tom, Mary, and their son Michael continue that tradition today, while having a clear vision for the future.

The Ryan family supplies milk to Centenary Thurles Co-op.

Along with having a herd of "exceptional quality", the dairy farm system is grounded in science and sustainability.

Joe Kerrigan, Centenary Thurles Co-op chief executive officer, said: "We are really proud of Tom, Mary, and Michael’s achievement in winning this award and we thank them for hosting this upcoming farm walk in June".

"They produce milk of the highest quality for Centenary Thurles and are a great example of a family farm producing high quality food," he added.

Donal Mullane, Teagasc regional advisory manager in Tipperary, said that "all milk suppliers, not just those in Co. Tipperary, should make it their business to attend this farm walk on June 24".

"The Ryan’s are doing an excellent job, and there is much to be seen and discussed on this farm that will help other producers from right around the country," he said.

The farm walk is open to all farmers, industry representatives, and anyone interested in the future of Irish dairy farming.

Those planning on attending the event are asked to register on the Teagasc website in advance.
